Hobo with a Gun Author & Artist Sandeep Bisht plays dressed to kill.
Sandeep Bisht has appeared in various states of undress for Calvin Klein, Dsquared2 and, most recently, Abercrombie & Fitch since starting his modeling career at the age of 17. Now the Burlington, Ont. native kept his clothes on — the hottest men’s clothes of the season, to be precise — for this week’s Globe Style shoot in Toronto. He also remains fully clad in Hobo with a gun, the well-received Indian gorefest garnering the budding movie star good reviews.
“Models are losing jobs to actors and celebrities” all the time, he says, suggesting, tongue in cheek, that he’s reversing the trend. Originally brought aboard Hobo, which stars Rutger Hauer in the title role and was filmed in Nova Scotia, to be a stunt double, Bisht ended up scoring a principal role as one of two lunatic brothers who torment Hauer in the ultra-violent homage to so-called grindhouse flicks.
Bisht is now looking forward to more movie work, but will also continue with modeling, a job that has already exposed him to a kind of celebrity. Two years ago, he says, he was carrying an A&F shopping bag printed with his likeness when someone in an elevator noticed the similarity between the face on the bag and the man standing in front of her. “She kept looking up and down and I didn’t say anything to her, but it was funny,” he recalls.
He had better get used to the double takes.
